Please join us in welcoming dance critic and author Marcia B. Siegel to Conduit at an intimate reception in the studio!

Marcia B. Siegel began her career in the late 1960s at the legendary Judson Church programs in New York City and has become one of the most respected dance critics, authors and academics in America. A contributing editor to the Hudson Review and dance critic for the Boston Phoenix since 1996, Siegel has been a regular reviewer for New York magazine, the Christian Science Monitor, and the Soho Weekly News, and has written for journals and periodicals in the U.S. and Europe.

Siegel taught on the faculty of Performing Arts at New York University from 1983 to 1999 and has lectured internationally on dance history and criticism. She was the 2004 Senior Critic Honoree of the Dance Critics Association, and in 2005 she received the CORD award for Outstanding Contributions to Dance Research.

She is author of At the Vanishing Point (New York, 1972), Watching the Dance Go By (Boston, 1977), The Shapes of Change (Boston, 1979, repr. California), Days on Earth—the Dance of Doris Humphrey (Yale, 1987, repr. Duke Univ. Press), and The Tail of the Dragon: New Dance 1976-1982 (Duke Univ. Press, 1991), Howling Near Heaven: Twyla Tharp and the Reinvention of Modern Dance. (St. Martin's Press, 2006).
